Hello, I'm Mary! Mrs. Mary to my students. Welcome to Camp Cook located in Cypress, TX!  I am thrilled you dropped in for a visit. My kitchen and Camp Cook kitchen are one in the same. I am super excited be your Culinary & Life Skills Coach. Why a coach and not a chef? Well, a coach is such a great role and how I truly see myself. I am a self taught chef, though, and I love food, cooking, and teaching. Teaching what I love to others is such an amazing privilege and opportunity. This is definitely not a new endeavor for me as I have previously owned and operated Camp Cook. The business looked very different then and was super busy with lots of fun! You can read all about The History of Camp Cook here.

Currently, my classes are for both neurotypical students and neurodiverse students. My niche is teens 13+, young adults, and adults. My classes specifically designated for neurodiverse students are taught with the neurodiverse student in mind. And, because my classes are small, every student receives the attention and accommodations they deserve. I only host 4-6 students at a time in my classes at Camp Cook Kitchen whether the class is neurotypical students, neurodiverse students, or a mix of both. While this business is legally a LLC, it is a ministry for me. And, by ministry I mean I serve my families and students as a Culinary and Life Skills Coach. Every family and every student matters.

What can you expect from a class at Camp Cook?

  • A small class with a very hands-on experience. No demos here! Every student makes every recipe with their own hands.

  • I know the value of budgets and money! I have raised my own kids and I know that extra-curricular activities are expensive! I respect how hard we all work to provide for our families. I am very mindful of this as I am planning, testing, and creating recipes and the final cost of my cooking classes.

  • When you see different cooking class costs, that cost is directly related to the costs of the recipe ingredients and the number of recipes in each session. Food is expensive. I strive to create recipes that utilize reasonable, high quality ingredients; recipes easy for students to recreate after class; and recipes that are delicious.

  • I use the highest quality ingredients available while striving to keep class costs as reasonable as possible. I also limit the amount of highly processed ingredients as well. I value high quality food because ultra processed foods with lots of chemicals just aren't good for our minds or bodies.

  • My recipes are all tested so students have positive results during their time with me. I stand behind all of my recipes and if on the off chance something goes wrong in class with ingredients, you will receive a partial refund. Quality matters.

  • All of my recipes make 2-4 very generous servings. So, keep in mind if we make multiple recipes in a session, your student(s) will have quite a bit of food coming home with them. I want families to be able to see, share, and taste the recipes their student(s) lovingly create. Students receive all recipes for their kitchen.

Hopefully, this gives you a peek into me and Camp Cook. I am always available for questions, concerns, and feedback. Feedback is the way I grow as in individual, educator, and culinary coach! I look forward to working with your student(s). Thank you for taking time to read my blog!
